Electric Fridays #10: Sine Qua Non

Somewhat moody and relaxed, the certainty that it will all eventually make sense one day.

It's Nice Until It Gets Nasty

It’s still a big surprise for me how differently can those who were once very close to me behave when they feel left behind.

PS: I have some trouble releasing REALLY daily. This has to do with the perturbations I experience lately. Hopefully it will all settle down soon...

Also, vote for my remix. 8 days left!

Just Ember (Poison for a Fairy)

Today’s improvisation is based on Steven Wilson's "Veneno Para Las Hadas" from his latest solo album “Insurgentes”. I participate in a remix competition for the track “Abandoner”. You can vote for my entry.

Electric Fridays #9: Can't Make Everyone Happy, Now Can I?

Today, another installment of Electric Fridays brings in some more negative energy. Some slight distortion came in unintentionally. I guess it’s the ultimate distortion week...

Listen to Can’t Make Everyone Happy, Now Can I? 2:13

Yesterday I decided to switch jobs, hence the omission.

In Your Room

A clumsy attempt at fast, rhythmic performance. When you’re playing in a tempo that technically makes you a big metronome, there’s hardly space (and time) for invention.

Antoine, You're a Genius (Lullaby, Phase 3)

Another approach to the lullaby subject, somewhat different than the first two.

Photosynthesis, Pt. 4

After a long break, I decided to return to recording ambient drones. This one is done by playing the piano while filtered through a deep reverb, some equalizers, chorus and heavy overdrive distrotion with a high feedback rate. This is arguably the most heavy, distorted and noiseful part. But there is a reason for it and the composition of the piece is structured. You may also be interested in the first, second and third part of the series.

This piece is unedited, released as recorded.

Electric Fridays #8: Lilac Picking

Another installment of weekly e-piano improvisations welcomes a distorted vintage suitcase e-piano.

PS. That’s right. I missed the improv yesterday... some days are just too short for the events they bring in.

Conspiracy Prophecy Paranoia

I’m amazed how many people I encounter lately who are avid believers of the worst kinds of pseudoscience and superstition possible.

Meeting the Orthogonal

As one of my professors used to say: „Great things happen by conjunction”.

Technically inspired by PNODUO’s approach to improvisation that rejects planning ahead. So this piece is as pure as it gets: created while performed, no editing whatsoever.

Something in the Pocket

The first three days of May were public holidays in Poland. Hence, no improvisations were published. This piece introduces the third month of the DailyImprov.net project.

I was looking for some unwanted files on my hard drive to make room for other stuff and, while at it, I found some very old music I did on tracker software many years ago. This improvisation is based on one of the tunes I composed back then.

Note: You might want to look at the archive of older entries where all improvisations for April are still being kept.
